The early learning set induction in hypnosis taps into the concept of neuroplasticity, which is the brain’s capability to rewire itself by going back to the prior and more flexible phases of learning. The client is guided back to the past to access their childhood learning patterns. This reactivates those pathways in the brain that were originally used to master skills such as crawling, walking, and talking. As a result, the conscious mind of an adult with rigid ways of thinking is bypassed, leading to entry into the subconscious mind. This makes the suggestions easier to absorb as the mind is in a mode where learning is easy.
This induction has the ability to bring in awareness of the innate mastery by tapping into the forgotten accomplishments from childhood. When a client recalls how effortlessly they learnt the basic skills, such as riding a bike, tying their shoelaces, and using a knife to cut an apple, it leads to a sense of confidence and willingness to learn and be successful. By reinforcing the idea that the client already mastered difficult tasks in the past and they can do them now as well, it helps to shift the mindset of the client from “I cannot do it” to “I did it before, and I can do it now.”. It lifts their motivation towards change and growth.
