So i was practicing self hypnosis i had this question in mind that while performing self hypnosis can we focus on the trance indicators that we’ve studied or would that distort the process since it requires conscious effort?
I would like you all to response for a better clarity.

    Good question, Bareeha.
From my experience, I would say that we might not need focus on identifying those trance indicators. As now we are aware of the trance indicators, we may notice and feel the sense of deep relaxation and calm.
When I did self-hypnosis, I didn’t feel the need to focus on the state of my trance. I started with eye fixation and closed my eyes when I was not able to keep them open anymore. I then went with the progressive muscle relaxation, followed by staircase induction. My body felt very light and relaxed. I felt like being there with my inner self. I thought it lasted for some minutes but when I came out of the trance, it took me a while to adjust to my surroundings and I didn’t realize that 24 minutes had passed.
I think we should let ourselves get involved in the process, and not make ourselves conscious by focusing on our trance indicators at that time.
