I will label this technique as something which is linked with real life, may help you have same physiological state and to explore your reality within the dark while you are having somehow real life experience. This reciprocity with real life may help at recovery , behaviour modification and emotional regulation. We all are equiped with stairs and so is our mind as having layers of conscious, preconscious and unconscious. We are equipped with something which roams around like goasts around us to make us hysterical, to make us uncertain to make us crazy. Moving down the stairs may help us to access that storage and to make modification within the core. Each staircase can be used as something deepening the effect of trance, as sir awais said ,” Jitna gur dalo utna he meetha hoga”• The more you describe staircase, the more you explain its composition, the more you add sensations within the process, the more deeper the process get. I will furher on explain the relapse, in CBT it is quite greater as compared to hypnosis and psychoanalysis. Because everything operates within our core believes, our unconscious conflicts ( Supplying motive) and at last our preconscious reinforcing those motives. Everything stays , but later on these processes haunt us in irregular ways . Let me describe hallucinatory paranoia, the images which you see , which you listen which you smell and which is touching you. Is something from your unconscious being modified by preconscious, i must say that sir freud was a legend at making such assumptions in the year 1960 . So , the deeper you get , better the cure and lesser the relapse.
