    A hypnotic suggestion comprises of the words or statements used by the hypnotherapist to help their clients achieve the positive and impactful results that they wanted to achieve in their lives. For example, if a client came with the problem of overthinking, the possible hypnotic suggestions could be, “Your thoughts are in your control”, “As your mind relaxes, your thoughts become clear and positive”, “You are able to construct meaningful and positive thoughts”, or “You can let go of your negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones.”
    A good hypnotic suggestion has the following qualities:
    1) It is short, simple, and clear. This makes it easy to be understood by the subconscious mind e.g., “You are calm” or “You are in control.”
    2) It is personalized according to the client’s needs and preferences, e.g., suggestions for a client who came with confidence issues at school or work and another one who came with the fear of driving a car would be different.
    3) It is in the present tense. It helps the client to know that they can feel or act on the suggestion in their present reality, e.g., “You are becoming stronger/confident with every passing day.”
    4) It is framed positively, e.g., Whenever you are alone, “you do not feel anxious” is replaced by “you feel calm and safe.”
    5) It is practical in nature i.e.; the client should be able to perform on it in real life, e.g., “Whenever you feel stressed in that situation, you are in control, you are able to relax and calm yourself, and you can handle that situation calmly and efficiently.”
    6) It is repetitive in nature, which makes it more acceptable to the subconscious mind, e.g., “With each breath, your fear becomes smaller and smaller. Every breath makes you let go of your fear. You are growing stronger. You are becoming confident. You are growing fearless. With each exhale, your fear is fading away and you are becoming stronger and fearless.”
