Many people have myths and misconceptions surrounding hypnotherapy.
One of the misconceptions is that hypnotherapy is a state of being asleep. That is not the case. Hypnotherapy is a state of being in a sleep like condition, where the individual is awake and aware of the process and his environment. You can move your body; you can talk and think. It is a state of deep relaxation where the subconscious mind is easily suggestible.
Another myth is that your secrets can get revealed during hypnosis. This is not true. If a client does not want to reveal something, he would simply not do so. The information can only be given by the client’s consent and approval.
People think that the hypnotherapist has complete control over their mind during hypnosis. Actually, you cannot be hypnotized if you do not want to be. It is a form of therapy where the client is always in the driving seat, and the hypnotherapist is just their navigator or guide.
People fear that they can get stuck during the hypnosis process and never get out. They can never actually get stuck during hypnosis, and they can wake up at any time they want to.
Another myth is that intelligent people cannot be hypnotized, and it only works on weak or average minded individuals. In reality, every individual can be hypnotized. It is actually their willingness and commitment to the process. However, the approaches used by the hypnotherapist may vary from person to person as every individual is different and unique.
Hypnotherapy is considered as some magic, although it works like magic through the art of words. It is a way of communicating and conveying specific positive messages to bring positive and meaningful change in the lives of individuals.
Hypnotherapy is a safe process, which is done in a therapeutic setting under controlled environments, and the main goal is to help people achieve the positive changes they have been wanting to achieve, to live a better, healthy, and a productive life.
