The SWISH technique of NLP can be integrated with hypnotherapy.
This begins by the therapist inducing a state of trance in the client. Trance can be induced through eye fixation, progressive muscle relaxation, or staircase induction technique. This will help the client to focus and relax.
This is followed by the SWISH technique of NLP. The therapist then asks the client to visualize a clear negative unwanted situation or image. He then asks the client to visualize another vivid positive wanted situation or image. Both the images are asked to be slowly brought closer to one another, with the unwanted image fading away and wanted image growing larger in size. When both the images are very close, the therapist tells the client that when he would whisper the word “SWISH”, the negative image would be diminished, leaving behind the positive image. This is followed by positive statements and affirmations to reinforce the positive image in the mind of the client. This process is carried out until the negative image completely gets diminshed. The client is then brough back to the present through the awakening process of hypnosis.
Combining SWISH technique with hypnotherapy could lead to more effective results as the client is deeply relaxed and highly suggestible in the state of trance and the changes made during this state are more lasting and effective.
