The autohynotic model explained that when an individual is exposed to a traumatic situation so as a defence thay build an autohypnotic state. It is believed that their defence mechanism help them to build up a split ego state , enable them to build built higher suggestibility,and to enter the state of altered consciousness
thus each alter is defined as a distinct autohypnotic state .
